Kerbside Food Waste Service Change

In early 2021 Kaikōura District Council made a decision that the kerbside collection of food waste in the Kaikōura urban community should reduce from weekly to fortnightly. This change was intended to take effect from the start of Council’s new solid waste services contract with Innovative Waste Kaikōura (IWK) which commenced on 1 October 2021, and the community was advised of this as part of the 2021-23 Long Term Plan process. There has been some delay on the part of IWK in implementing these changes, but the reduced services will now take effect from 1 March 2022. From this date the kerbside food waste service in Kaikōura will become fortnightly, on the same day as the refuse collection.
