Wave Warning - Now and Peaking at Midnight

WAVE WARNING - NOW AND PEAKING AT MIDNIGHT
WARNING FOR ROAD USERS SH1 NORTH & SOUTH OF KAIKŌURA
The peak of the swell caused by the cyclone and the peak of high tide are due to occur at midnight tonight. This will cause large waves that are a potential danger to road users of SH1 North and South of Kaikōura, especially in and around Ohau point. We advise all road users to not travel unless absolutely necessary. We will be monitoring the situation.
We are already experiencing large waves on our coastline and ask everyone to exercise caution near the sea until this weather event passes. Please stay out of the water - for your own safety and that of first responders.
