Council approves Roading Design for Wakatu Quay development
On the 25th of September the Kaikōura District Council approved the submission of the detailed design of the roading as part of the Wakatu Quay development by the Kaikoura District Council Operations team and the Kaikōura Marine Development Programme (KMDP).
The detailed design for the hospitality building, the required civil works for the site, and the landscape design had been approved previously. LMC Building and Construction will commence works in October.
The roading design has been developed concurrently with the other design components of the development and its implementation will be managed by the KDC Roading team. KDC will invite tenders for the completion of the roading works in late October. Construction is not expected until March/April 2025.
KDC Roading Engineer James Prentice noted that careful planning will be required for implementation and we will be engaging with the local residents on the change and anticipated disruption over the construction period.
Further information on the project is available on the Kaikōura District Council website
