NZTA Works and Traffic Management Concerns

Council is aware of disruption and associated concerns with the roadworks being conducted on the State Highway.

The works are occurring on the State Highway and intersections, which are under the control of the NZ Transport Agency. MainPower as a network utility provider has rights to do works in road corridors.

KDC does not have the ability to determine when such works are conducted.

Power Jointing LTS are carrying out works for MainPower. Traffic management is being performed by Power jointing LTD.

We are aware that the delays to traffic have been much longer than was envisaged within the approved traffic management plan and we understand that Power Jointing LTD have changed their traffic control methodology from lights to manual stop go to reduce these delays.

We also understand that if the delays cannot be reduced to an acceptable level, then works will be stopped by NZTA.
