PUBLIC NOTICE OF INITIAL PROPOSAL ON REPRESENTATION FOR THE 2025 & 2028 ELECTIONS - CLOSED
(In accordance with Local Electoral Act 2001)
At the Council meeting on the 26th June, the Council resolved that the following initial proposal to be put out for public consultation:
- That the Council comprise seven (7) Councillors and the Mayor, all elected at large (by the electors of the district as a whole);
- That the Council does not establish any wards
- That the Council does not establish any community boards
The submission process for any feedback will be open from 4th July 4.30pm for a calendar month until 5th August 4.30pm. Council will consider and hear any submissions at the 28th August Council meeting. Following the hearings, Council will deliberate any changes to its proposal and publicly notify its final proposal in September 2024.
There will then be a further period for any person to lodge an appeal or objection to the final proposal within one month of it being advertised. If no submissions are received, then Council does not need to hold any hearings and can publish its Final Proposal.
