Community Initiatives Fund allocated a total of $14,955.00 into our community for 2023-2024.
- Hato Hone (St Johns) : a programme for Rangatahi called Poipoia te Pitomata. This programme is about harnessing the potential of our rangatahi through nurturing them to grow as future first aiders and kaea in their community.
- Pensioner Village Christmas Garden : to include a part of our older aged people in our community in Christmas Festival 2023 and decorate the entry into the village with Christmas decorations. An opportunity for them to feel remembered and celebrate being part of our community, with the intent to continue this in the future.
- Kaikoura High School Alumni : to create an organisation that will foster connections within our community, celebrate past pupils’ and staff achievements, inspire our current generation of rangatahi and help preserve our local history.
- Kaikoura Ocean Research Institute (KORI) : The Save Our Species programme that will involve 4 community events to celebrate the marine life of Kaikoura
- Education Resources project (Kaikoura Historical Society) : Develop a range of learning activities, interactive resources that will encourage a deeper engagement with our upcoming Wharenga – First Wave’ Surfing exhibition, support learning around a range of educational levels and across the wider community.
