Kaikōura District Council proposes that a narrow strip of public road reserve along the Esplanade in Kaikōura (immediately adjacent to the Pier Hotel) with an area of approximately 166 square metres is stopped and ceases to be road.
This change is proposed as that section of road has become one-way, and this area is now surplus to Council’s needs The area of land is currently occupied by the Pier Hotel under a License to Occupy granted by Council, and if the stopping of the road proceeds that area of land would be sold to the owners of the hotel.
A survey plan showing the proposed area to be stopped and other information relating to it can be obtained from Council on request.
Persons objecting to the stopping should do so in writing to Council by not later than 9 May 2025, stating the reasons for their objection.
