In accordance with Clause 5 of the First Schedule of the Resource Management Act 1991, The Kaikōura Dark Sky Trust prepared the following plan change to the Kaikōura District Plan (KDP), and Council resolved to adopt it in January 2024.

• The Kaikōura District Council reception – 2nd Floor, 96 West End
• Kaikōura Library – 1st floor, 96 West End
• A paper copy of the Proposed Plan change is available from the Kaikōura District Council reception at a cost of $1.00 per page for colour and 20c per page for black & whit

Next Steps

The s42A Officer Report is currently being considered by the Hearings Panel. A Hearing is currently scheduled to take place on 24th September 2024. See ‘Minute of Hearing’ for further details. Following the Hearing Panel’s recommendation, Council will decide whether to reject or approve the Plan Change. Any submitter who is not satisfied with the Council’s decision may then appeal to the Environment Court.
